Description
Buzz pollination of borage (Borago officinalis) by a honey bee (Apis mellifera). When the bee lands on the flower it harvests pollen by vibrating its flight muscles. This causes the plant to shake and pollen falls from the anther onto the bee's abdomen. In the process some falls onto the female parts of the flower and self-pollination occurs. Each pollen grain contains a male gamete which, when joined with an ovule from a plant of the same species, produces a seed.
