The artist is my son and is very talented. In high school he was accepted by Chicago Art Institute but couldn’t afford the tuition. He graduated from Fredonia State University with a Fine Art degree.
Built by farmer John P. Cable in 1867, Cable Mill gristmill is located along the Cades Cove loop drive in Great Smoky Mountains National Park, Tennessee, USA. Thanks to National Park Service renovation and maintenance, the mill operates today much as it did nearly 150 years ago, and corn meal ground at the mill can be purchased at the Cades Cove Visitor Center seasonally.

After six years as a Chicago area transplant living in East Central Michigan, I returned in 2022 to to a new home in the far Northwest Chicago suburbs. I enjoyed my time in Michigan, where I had the opportunity to photograph local wildlife, especially the birds and waterfowl in State Parks and preserves that were near my home. But I’m now also enjoying the opportunity to explore the environs near my new location. Indeed, I see beauty and interesting things to photograph almost everywhere that I go.
