Description
I love the contrast inherent in the beauty of desert cacti blooms. The beauty and the beast — the flower and the thorns. The way the light enhances that contrast here reminded me of the light found in cathedrals adorned with stained-glass windows in a myriad of bold, vibrant colors. This red-barrel cactus blooms in the Sonoran Desert of Arizona. One does not normally associate cacti with cathedrals but think about its faithful visitors - countless tiny insects, bees, and butterflies. Its sweet nectar serves and nourishes spirit and body while the thorns support and protect. What more sacred space can there be? Its beauty and light does the same for us. May it bless and inspire you as it has me!
