Description
I spotted this beautiful California Scrub-Jay in a budding pussywillow tree near my hotel at DeltaPark in Portand, Oregon. These birds are interesting to watch. I grabbed some peanuts and went out to the tree that a pair was hanging around on a cold winter day. I threw some on the ground and they flew down from the tree to be within three feet of me. I was pleasantly suprised. So I threw out so more. After eating a few they would come back and grab one or two with there beak and fly away to a spot in the brush, flip the peanut to point it at the ground and then push it in with there beaks. Never knew that they stored peanuts in the ground like squirrels.
