Napoleon Cannons at Dunker Church in Sharpsburg, Maryland. This plain and simple house of worship found itself at the epicenter of the bloodiest battle in American History - the Battle of Antietam. It was here on September 17, 1862, that Union and Confederate troops clashed in America's Civil War. The sight continues to hold the awful distinction of seeing the greatest loss of life in one day with over 3,600 dead, more than Pearl Harbor and D-Day.
