Description
When travelling in the Mekong Delta, our driver took a detour to show us the Cai Dao temple in the town of Long Xuyen. The temple was nearing the completion of a renovation, but the people there allowed us to see inside. The worshippers there follow Caidaoism, a monotheist religion that promotes the idea that all religions are one. Caodaism is a new religion, having been founded in 1926, in Vietnam, but now has a growing worldwide following. While not prominent, within the temple were iconic references to Buddhism, Christianity, and Islam. Spiritualism is deep in the Caidaoism culture.
Back to the image, I was really taken with the amazing, the wonderful paint decoration of the temple. The shades of yellow and highlights in pink, orange, greens, and blues gave the temple this remarkably warm feeling. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.
