I noted that the color came out differently on this size of bag, it is distinctly more purple. I happen to love that color also--the larger size has perfect color, exactly like the photo. I love both of my bags.

This tote bag is gorgeous! I saw a picture of it and had to have it. The colors are just beautiful. The size is better than I expected, because it's larger than I had envisioned it. It is practical and functional as well as beautiful. I'm very happy with this purchase.
The circa 1905 Capitola Manufacturing Company Cotton Yarn Mill is located on the south side of the French Broad River, directly across the river from downtown Marshall in Madison County, North Carolina. Architecturally, it is a very simple, almost square, 3-story brick building. Most of the windows are boarded or infilled with concrete block. The blocks in the window openings of the first and second floors were painted to look like windows. In this image, one is of a man and woman sitting at a desk. Another one in the lower portion shows two children on the outside talking to one on the inside. Although the building is very simple, it has historical significance because of the role it has played and continues to play in Marshall’s economy. That is because since its establishment it has been the only manufacturing company in the town. Through the first three decades of the 20th century, the mill was a major employer in a town that offered few other manufacturing opportunities. The mill...
I have been a photographer for many years. For so long, in fact, that I can no longer imagine my life without a camera to capture its special moments. It took me quite some time before I was able to connect myself to being an artist, because in my mind a photographer and an artist were two distinctly different things. While they were both creative, they used entirely different processes to achieve their artistic goals. Over time, however, I have recognized the remarkable similarities in the way that we look at visual elements such as composition, colors, lines, and light. I have come to understand that what constitutes fine art stands apart from whatever techniques that we artists use to ultimately reach that special place. My...

Great capture of this old mill, f/l.
Carolyn Marshall replied:
Thank you, Sandi. Visited my daughter up in Marshall back in June and did a nice walk-around of the town. The painted windows is what caught my attention. What an awesome little town to visit with so much history.
