Description
Title: CascadeDance
This original painting was just accepted into the 2020 Northwest Watercolor Society international juried show! I'm thrilled! It's a favorite!
I found this lively dancing dahlia at the famous Butchart Gardens near Victoria, BC. It's actually a white flower with curling cascading petals that I couldn't resist. The shadows of white are a great opportunity to explore colors instead of the simple gray that is seen in the photos bringing this flower to ever more life!
This painting is pure transparent watercolor on a full sheet of 140# Arches Cold Press paper.
Original Image Size: 30โ x 22.5โ
Frame size: 31" x 39"
The art is professionally photographed which will make reproductions impossible to discern from the original painting other than the deckle edge of the painting which is part of the original art. It is mounted on archival foam core to reveal the deckle edges of the paper and framed with a contemporary white metal frame and plexiglass.
For the past dozen years I've been painting flowers up so close that they envelope the viewer in their sensuality and rich color. I call these paintings Floralscapes as they feel like a landscape of bloom that the viewer can get lost deep within. These Floralscapes, Watercolor Life Drawings and Sumi paintings can be seen on my fine art web site at http://www.sandyhaightfineart.com.
I was honored to win the gold prize as poster artist for the Skagit Valley Tulip Festival in 2016 with my watercolor painting of a tulip bouquet.
In 2012 I qualified to be a signature member of the Northwest Watercolor Society (NWWS). This is earned by being juried into a select number of local chapter and international watercolor society shows sponsored by NWWS. The initials now follow my signature in recent paintings.
Iโve used watercolor and ink brush line in my illustration work for over 20 years, but in a much more controlled and predictable way. My artworks appear on book jackets, ads, posters, logos and packaging all over the country and Canada.
