I really enjoy trying something I have not done before. This was an attempt to do a painting using only art knives! I used different art knives to get all of the effects from clouds to trees and the castle. I had a lot of fun experimenting with mixing different colors together to give me marks that looked like clouds and colors and marks that looked like rocks. All of the painting from sky to water to cloud to castle were all done with art knives, Even the trees and windows in the castle and my signature are all done with an art knife! It was a fun experiment and I learned a lot. I use the knife now when I do rocks in my paintings and trees. I try to make sure I learn something new in every painting even if it is very similar to something I have done many times. It helps my art stay new and fun and refreshing! I really enjoy learning new ways of doing things and then being able to incorporate what I learn into my other work.

B.J. Hilton Hitchcock B.J. Hilton Hitchcock was born in Pensacola, Florida. She was raised in Knoxville, Tennessee with her four brothers. She lives in Maryville, Tennessee with her husband. They have two grown children, a son and a daughter. BJ graduated from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, with a degree in Elementary and Early Childhood Education. She was employed as a teacher for many years. BJ began painting as a preteen. Her first paintings were watercolors. She was greatly influenced by her Junior High Art teacher, Bill Lett.
