Description
The PBY Catalinas during the Pacific War ( 1941-1945) made long oversea aerial patrols against Japanese shipping supply lines and Submarines, The flying boats made early detections of enemy fleets approaching and often were hiding in the nearby lagoons and rivers, where they could land. Japanese fighters were controlling the lagoons near their seaports and sometimes detected a moored Catalina, resulting in a fierce battle with the machineguns on board.
