The cattle egret (Bubulcus ibis) is found all over Africa (apart from the Sahara), and around the coasts of the Americas, southern Asia and Australasia. It feeds on insects found on the hides of large herbivores, on the ground, or in the water. Cattle egrets can grow to over 50 centimetres in length. Photographed in Israel, in May.
