Cawfield Quarry And Hadrians Wall In Northumberland
Photograph - Photograph
Cawfield Quarry and Hadrian's Wall, Northumberland. The flooded quarry below Cawfield Crags lies on the Great Whin Sill, a natural formation used by the Romans to build the wall across Britain. The Wall is both a long distance footpath and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, but in late autumn it is peaceful and deserted.
