Description
This is a capture taken when I was together with my husband in a weekend in this beautiful town, Solothurn, celebrating our 10th wedding day! It was a very beautiful day and I took some captures as a vivid memory of this beautiful place, where we celebrated the event of our together life!
This old part of town is old. In comparison with this, our 10th anniversary of wedding is young!
The light over the streets are setting for the Christmas time, also a time to celebrate!
This building in background is the city oldest structure, built in the first half of the Twelfth Century. Construction of the clock storey in 1467 and installation of the astronomic clockworks with the famous astronomy clock dial in 1545. Below this group of figures: the knight, death and between them a "Mannli", the King of Fools. Since 1545, the Grim Reaper has turned over his sand dial at the top of every hour. "The glass is full" as he nods his bald pate toward the knight, the symbol of a life of power. The clockworks were built by Lorenz Liechti and Joachim Habrecht. Below it are the two city patrons from 1583, Urs and Viktor. This clock s special because works only at eleven hour!
Solothurn (Salodurum), originally probably Celtic, was in Roman times a crossroads of the great military roads. The Pattusius stone inscription indicates that in Salodurum was a Roman Apollo Temple of Augustus. When looking castle in Selzach Jura near Solothurn is a yew tree, is claimed by the that she was germinated in the Roman period. At the time of the migration, the interface between the immigrant to Switzerland Germanic tribes of the Burgundians and Alemanni was at Solothurn: Bellach seems a vibrant establishment with Gallo-Roman (Old French) language to have been Lommiswil an Alemannic. Later the Alemannic Old High German has prevailed over the Gallo-Roman about to Biel. The remaining parts of today's Canton were large part Alemannic from the start.
From 1467 began the construction of the town hall of Solothurn, on the Donkey alley, which was only fully completed in 1711 with a new twin-tower facade on the east, This is a side door. (Source: Wikipedia)

Hi Felicia - I guess most old towns look quite similar...This reminds me of the one I visited recently...and am missing it already....I guess when I need to stay a bit longer next time in any old town. V nice angle and perspective that brought the character of this place! f/v

Thank you very much, Paulette! Behind every capture it finds a story. I make a capture when I want to imoralize a moment that is beautiful or important to me! Sharing, make the memories more beautiful! My husband is captured in this photo! :)
