Description
Central Park Oak Bridge in Autumn by Regina Geoghan. Oak Bridge, designed by Calvert Vaux and built in 1860, is a pedestrian bridge that crosses Bank Rock Bay at the northern edge of Central Park Lake and is a pathway into the Ramble section of the park. Due to severe deterioration, the white oak bridge was completely rebuilt in 2009 using the original drawings and historic photographs. The bridge, set with cast iron designs between the wood posts is the largest of the wooden bridges of Ctnral Park and one of the most intricate designs.
