Description
Cervical smear test. Light micrograph of a cervical smear containing excessive blood (red), which has obscured the squamous cells (pink, blue). A cervical smear is taken by scraping cells from the uterine cervix, and examining them under a microscope. This smear cannot be used to check for abnormalities in the cells, which may indicate the onset of cancer. Another sample must be collected when the woman is not menstruating. Magnification x1150 when printed 10cm wide.
