After a wonderful, late afternoon/ early evening stop at the ChristkindlMarket for dinner and drinks, I headed north a few blocks, and positioned myself at the entry to the River Walk at Dearborn Street and Wacker Drive. Looking west along the Chicago River I took this long exposure. It shows the festive colors of the season on several buildings, including the Whirlpool Clock, Britannica Clock, and further down the river, the Merchandise Mart. The River Walk's extension can be seen in the lower, left corner, with the lights and traffic of Wacker Drive, just above it. This is a special place to me, having spent three, great years, living in the vicinity. As you can see, the lights reflect upon the "glass-like" Chicago River, created by the effect of the 30+ second exposure.
I'm a retired special education teacher currently living in Southwest Michigan, although the majority of my life was spent in the Chicagoland area. Now I spend about half the year (during the Winters, especially) in Southwest Florida. I have enjoyed photography since I was a teenager, and got my first SLR camera at age 20. I spend most of my time taking photos of plants, animal life, and landscapes (especially sunsets) that surround me. Taking trips always offer new and additional opportunities, and these vacations are always a way of increasing my photographic experiences.
