The River Walk in Chicago is a beautiful walkway that continues along the main branch of the Chicago River, linking Lake Michigan bike and running paths with the downtown area restaurants, shops, and residences. Currently, the construction seen in this image will, in part, transform the riverfront area into a "linear park," that will include natural areas, forests, places for boating and kayaking, and fountains. This project will also allow pedestrians to smoothly walk under the bridges. Previously, in certain areas, you would need to walk up to street level and then down to the river level for a continued walk. At the point this image was taken, crews were (it appeared) working on widening the south side walkway just to the East of Clark Street.

I'm a retired special education teacher currently living in Southwest Michigan, although the majority of my life was spent in the Chicagoland area. I have enjoyed photography since I was a teenager, and got my first SLR camera at age 20. Now, I spend most of my time taking photos of the plant and animal life that surrounds me. Trips always offer new and additional opportunities, including landscape and cityscape photography. Posting much of my work on Facebook, I've received encouraging comments from family and friends, so I felt this was the next logical step.
