Thanks for your service and sharing some of your pictures from Nam.

Mel Steinhauer replied:

There were over 800 children like these young girls at the orphanage near Saigon which I so enjoyed meeting and spending some time with them. Many thanks for your kind comments on my images and thanks also for your service during that war. I will look at your galleries soon. Best wishes!

Thanks so much ! This one has always been a pleasant memory from that time and a story I like to share.

Oh such a beautiful shot... You sure have my support with this lovely piece :)

Wonderful photograph, Mel. And wonderful story to accompany it. This was one of your good experiences, no doubt, even though I'm sure you felt some heartache for their situation. I remember going to an orphanage in Vincennes when I was about 15 or 16 with a church youth group. The images, feelings and memories of that visit are still very clear and strong even now. I remember the overwhelming sadness that overcame me as I was leaving. There was this little blond girl of about 9 years old who attached herself to me during the entire visit and she gave me her school photo with her name on the back. Tyra Dawn Miles was her name. When I got married at 17 and had my little girl at 18, I named her after that little sweet orphan, Tyra. Goodness, Mel! I'm sorry about all this come pouring out on your comments page. Your images are powerful, is all I can say. Thanks again.

What a lovely shot of the little girls.. They have such beautiful faces and you've really caught their expressions wonderfully
