I found the resolution of the picture inadequate. Also the picture was too dark and some of the objects not visible enough because of the darkness. Overall I am really dissatisfied with my purchase.

Artist's Description

Chill Wills appeared with John Wayne in "Alleghany Uprising," "The Alamo" and "McLintock." Before entering pictures he had been the lead singer in "Chill Wills & His Avalon Boys." He is in the lower right of the frame in this musical number in "Way Out West" (1937) starring the incomparable Laurel & Hardy. He performed Stan's bass singing although his mouth does not move at the finale of the song. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zLYd_veNs_g Oliver Hardy acted with Duke 12 years later in "The Fighting Kentuckian." {NOTE: This photo of Chill Wills (with his hair dyed blond) dates from January 1971, as seen on a porch at Old Tucson, also used in Bud Boetticher's 1958 "Buchanan Rides Alone," with Randolph Scott. In 1961 Chill appeared in Sam Peckinpah's "The Deadly Companions," parts lensed only a block away at Old Tucson. The cinematographer was William Clothier who was the director of photography on "The Alamo" and numerous other John Wayne and John Ford films.} @2013 David L...

About David Lee Guss

I first became obsessed with photography and motion pictures while growing up in post WW2 Manila in the Philippine Islands in the late 1940's/early 1950's. Film noirs were a particular influence. While at the U of A, I studied with the master black and white photo essayist W. Eugene Smith (1918-1978) the last year of his life. I am the last person cited in Jim Hughes' definitive biography of Gene, as I wrote about attending his final...
