Not many "artist" here realize that this is a print from the famous 18th century French artist Gustave Dore http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gustave_Dor%C3%A9, I don't know if is more hilarious or depressing... :-)

I think many people like paintings like this, in your style. Why? Because most people have a romantic view of their childhood Christmas and if they didn't have one like this, they certainly wanted on! It's.......any European city circa 18th century. In England it was the Victorian period and Charles Dickens' “a Christams Carol” with Ebenezer Scrooge. The image invokes the Christmas spirit, which is one of the most power spiritual emotional states we can find ourselves in. It is the closest we can get to being 'at one' with our fellow humans. Example: the French German and English on the Western Front on Christmas 1914 playing football, singing carols and exchanging greetings and presents! You go figure!
