This is another version of a cafe scene I did of Burlington, Vermont. I was trying to simplify it for a customer, but I realized in this painting it would be a mistake. I loved the way it was coming out so I just kept it. Church Street is where I go when I go up to Burlington, Vermont to visit my brother and his family. Its a pretty artsy place in the center of town. Once there were all these life sized cow sculpure/paintings there. We had a blast!
Debra Bretton Robinson grew up in Plaistow, NH and received her degree from the Mass College of Art in Boston. She and her family reside in MA. Debra is now a participant in the vibrant Lowell, MA art scene. Her acrylic paintings on canvas concentrate on the natural landscapes and architecture of New England in vibrating colors. Most of her work is done "en plein air" or on site, outdoors. Frequently her scenes are painted while on her “floating studio”, her husband’s boat, while he fishes. Her style borders between representational and abstract. The colors and lines of her paintings are inspired by Matisse during the Fauvist movement.
