Artist's Description
This is a photomontage made entirely of hand-painted and ink-painted papers. I love this deep blue indigo color and how the cinnabar color stands out boldly against it. The bits of gold flakes, too, add interest and color. This is one of a pair that I made.
About Carol Leigh
I'm a photographer, writer, educator based in the Pacific Northwest, specializing in photomontage work, combining photos I've taken of rust, walls, peeling paint, birds, postage stamps, trees, etc. into images that are completely new, different, and often weird. I also create physical collages, then find myself photographing parts of them to include in my photomontages. It's crazy, but it's fun! Very interesting. On my monitor it is more a deep aqua than indigo, but it's beautiful and interesting anyway. Congratulations on the recent sale.

Thanks, Nikolyn. Your comment about the color had me worried, but I've checked to see how it looks on numerous devices and am happy to see a consistency there. The color is mottled, which creates interest, but I'm sticking with primarily indigo!
