Description
Citrus greening disease research. Entomologist and technician examining backyard traps baited with attractants for the Asian citrus psyllid (Diaphorina citri). This insect transmits the bacteria that causes citrus greening disease. Also known as huanglongbing (HLB), this disease causes mottled leaves and small, bitter fruits that remain partly green even when ripe. There is no cure. This research is being carried out by the Agricultural Research Service (ARS) of the US Department of Agriculture. Photographed in the USA.
