About Bruce Combs - REACH BEYOND
REACH BEYOND, my logo and general theme and goal, usually is the first painting on the left of the top row, or near there. Go ahead and click on it now to open it up for a much better look. And if you're interested, then just go on to more of the paintings. You can always come back and read what I wrote about me. But I seriously hope that these paintings present various facets of my perceptions of our world -- or wishes FOR it -- more vividly -- or at least differently -- than writing can. They mutely show what objects and situations I think merit attention and from what points of view I choose to present them and in what medium and style. I hope that perhaps some, or even a part of one, will touch and vibrate with some part of you,...

I adore, the two tones of the painting and the chaos created.

You captured it perfectly. The dark, heaviness that pushes you down and holds on so tightly that you cannot escape. You don't want to go there, but as hard as you try you cannot get away. Yes, I suffer with Bi-Polar type 2...the depression kind. Although it tends to make me more creative, it also steals many days from me. For I am held hostage by that dark heaviness....that you so brilliantly displayed in this painting. Your Dear Friend, Laura

Hi Bruce, this is very expressive and personal. The process really shows your pain. This is a true artist, painting from the soul. When I painted my Dementia the colors represent the life that is fading. There is still joy but getting faded and not always touchable..as if the happy energy is drifting away. The little face on the bottom left shows the torment, the loss of self and a sort of torture or inner destruction. The truth is, it is my Dad. I want to share so many things with him but he is fading. I don't want to let him know that I see the sad part. I just keep it simple and shallow and this is very painful to me. The color in this painting is there because it is still there...but fading...the tears are falling on the page..they are mine. The wax is fantastic as tears. I could paint a series of tears, an ocean maybe, until the pain will go away. love Heather

this is an excellent expression in black and white.

Hi Bruce, ;-) Thank you for your very kind words. Although I do not suffer this malady myself just the normal dark cloud which dissipates quickly once in a while this really conveys that heavy irrational anxiety which grips many a poor soul. It almost looks like lead, heavy, weighty, tightyly tangled mass as a strangling thing. Brilliant in concept to execution.

Hi Bruce, this one really speaks to me...nice to be here with you! Cate
