Description
Normally, when I set my chair down by the edge of the pond or the stream, the turtles scatter like crazy. But for some reason, today, this one did not. It was very interested in what I was doing. I have a suspicion that I parked near its nest (they dig nests in the ground near their body of water).
This is the largest of the Florida Softshell Turtles I have seen in my viewing area. You cannot really tell how big this one is from the image, but it had to be three to four foot long.

Wow! I've only seen one of these soft shelled turtles William and I can tell you, it was definitely much smaller! Awesome capture! L/F
William Tasker replied:
Thank you, Kathy. I've only seen one bigger and that was a good four to five feet over on Boynton Beach, FL

Wow! Awesome capture, my friend!!! It's so interesting...this turtle's face (and especially the long nose/mouth/bill(?)) is totally different from the turtles I've seen here or in Hawaii!!! Hi whole neck and face almost look like a duck! Thanks for sharing!!!! :)))vf
William Tasker replied:
They are quite different, for sure! Not the most attractive turtles in the world. Heh. Thank you, dear friend!

Wow! Unique capture! This is a perspective not often presented in an image! Almost otherworldly. Did you determine whether or not you were near her nesting site? l/f/g+/t/p

William, amazing capture of this strange looking turtle. I like your title and description also. I really think that I would have had to move my chair, especially if this creature is 3/4 feet long. - see me RUN! f/l
William Tasker replied:
I didn't sit until I saw what it was going to do. Heh. Thank you, my friend!

A beautiful portrait of this fellow. They do look strange, but they are so interesting.
