Description
Looking West as a late winter snow storm obscures the Allegheny Mountains (the Western rim of the Shenandoah Valley which is bordered by the Blue Ridge Mountains in the East.) The Shenandoah Valley was considered the bread basket of the Confederacy. When the Valley fell to the control of Union forces after the Battle of Cedar Creek, the American Civil War was over and the Confederacy defeated within 4 months.
