Cole and Claude. US physician Peter A. Cole and Belgian physician and cell biologist Albert Claude (1899-1983) in conversation at a conference. Cole worked on the effects of ultraviolet radiation on fruit fly chromosomes, and also on ultraviolet microscopy. Claude shared the 1974 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine for his 1930 work concerning the structural and functional organization of the cell.
