Artist's Description

Unknown to most people, there is a way to drive your car to the bottom of the Grand Canyon, using a gravel/dirt road owned and maintained by an American Indian tribe. This road is a toll road, and the tribe must be paid a small fee in order to use it. The road ends at the Western end of the canyon just before reaching the magnificent red rocks area. From this point one can hike East along the river bank of the river into the red rock area. It is a way to view the canyon bottom without having to hike/climb down the rocks. We did not attempt this flatland hike, but instead removed our footwear and waded in the river.
