About Phil McCollum
Phil McCollum grew up in Oklahoma and in 1966 moved to Colorado to work. His dad gave him his first camera when he was in the eighth grade. He has taken photography classes at Oklahoma State University, in Denver, Colorado, and other places. He is mostly self taught through studying the work of others and experimenting. From the 60’s and 70’s he had his own darkroom and did many creative processes with the negatives he produced. When digital cameras came available, he was eager to get one, and has used several over the years. He says that anything in front of the camera becomes fair game but prefers subjects that do not talk back. His background and interest in the sciences and engineering has steered his photographic work more to...
