Description
This is a view of the Irondequoit Bay inlet connecting the bay with Lake Ont ario. Irondequoit Bay was named for the Iroquois Indians who are a league of several nations and tribes of Native American people of North America. It was so named in the 1670's after they colonized the northern shore. Irondequoit Bay is fed by Irondequoit Creek and flows into the lake. It is 245 feet above sea level. It is bordered by the towns of Webster, Penfield and Irondequoit. It is a playground for many water enthusiasts from boaters and jet skiers, to fishermen and swimmers. When winter is upon us, the ice fishermen set up camp on the bay. My husband tells me that decades ago, his grandparents would attend carnivals on the ice.........source wikipedia.......I could not resist the beautiful pink glow of the sky and the reflection in the water.
