I fell in love with this photo the day that Jan posted it. The cards are beautiful, frame able for a small space. I like that they have plenty of room for writing or doodling inside.

Artist's Description

Robbie Francevic in the legendary Custaxie at Levin in 1967. The Custaxie name came from an amalgamation of a 1955 Ford Customline fitted with a 7-litre Ford Galaxie engine, Francevic's team making full use of the very relaxed rules at the time. The car would prove almost unbeatable, and only Paul Fahey in a Mustang was able to put up any sort of a fight. However, after it's successful year of dominance, the rules were changed, outlawing the Custaxie. The engine was sold off and went into a racing boat. The rolling shell went to another owner who briefly used it for drag-racing, and although a replica of it has been built, nothing remains of the original.
Levin was a small 1.1 mile circuit within the confines of a horse-racing track in the town of Levin. It lasted until 1976, when the horse racing club wanted to improve their facilities, and the sealed track was sacrificed.

About Kieran Roberts

Having a keen interest in motorsport, I started painting racing cars, mostly Grand Prix racers from my favourite period of racing - the 1960s and 70s. My work became steadily refined before I started kart racing as well as studying for an engineering trade. The lack of available time resulting in just a few paintings being completed from 1998 to 2006. My interest was re-ignited when I was gifted some un-needed art supplies, rather than let them go to waste, I decided to rediscover my talent. One of my first experimental works was "Losing Time", quickly snapped up by a collector and fuelling my desire to...
