The National Building Museum in northwest Washington DC was built in the 1880?s for the Pension Bureau. It was designed by Montgomery C. Meigs. The Great Hall is 316 by 116 feet, and 159 feet high. The hall features eight massive Corinthian columns, made of brick with plaster surfaces painted to resemble marble. Each column is 75 feet high, 8 feet in diameter and 25 feet in circumference.
