Description
A gnatcatcher calls to its mate while perched on a limb above its nest at Lettuce Lake Park in Tampa, Florida. Theblue-gray gnatcatcher(polioptila caerulea) can be found on the edge of moist decidulus forests, short woodlands and shrublands from southern Canada in the east, the United States, except for the plains states, Mexico and upper Central America. It is the only truly migratory gnatcatcher and the one with the most northerly range, breeding in the upper United States and lower eastern Canada during the summer and moving south for the winter.
