Description
One of the highlights of my travels in Ireland was two nights spent in the wilds of Connemara near the village of Leenane in County Galway. The weather was incredibly variable, as is typical for Ireland or anywhere in Europe in winter. One moment rain and winds, the next beautiful sun. There was an awful lot of walking done in this gorgeous Irish landscape.
And whenever the sun saw fit to come out, as it is in this photo, I'd pause to photograph and cherish the moment.
My Connemara photos feature a lot of photos like this one of roads disappearing on the horizon. Now, I've always been a fan of such photos. I love the symbolism, the mystery, the uncharted future, Partially it was simply my love of vistas like this that caused me to photograph so many of them while walking those self-same roads in Connemara, but it was also that I had just left a stable job for an uncertain future winging it on my own, traveling and working on my visual art. I think that put these long unknown roads into perspective for me. How about you?
