Great moment captured in this lovely watercolor! Mmmm! I can smell those beans! :)

Marsha Elliott replied:

Thanks so much, Angie. Dad always made a big cast iron skillet of fried potatoes and a pan of cornbread to go with the beans.....what a great "down home" meal it was. Something I'll always remember.

Having lost Dad a couple years ago after 60 years together with my Mom, I can really feel the emotion in this piece. Love the story behind it. I'm sure he is smiling down at what you have done here as he stirs his simmering pot of beans up above .

Marsha Elliott replied:

Your comment really touched my heart....I'm sure my Dad would love to have seen this. So sorry for the loss of your Dad as well....it's never easy to lose a loved one. That's why we need to cherish every moment with them that we can.

This tote bag is gorgeous! I saw a picture of it and had to have it. The colors are just beautiful. The size is better than I expected, because it's larger than I had envisioned it. It is practical and functional as well as beautiful. I'm very happy with this purchase.

Pixels did an amazing job of taking a picture I created and transferring it to fabric. I’m very impressed with the quality of the prints and the bag. Thank you.

Artist's Description

My Dad loved the outdoors. In his younger years, he spent alot of time fishing, hunting, camping & cookin' beans over an open fire. The last time he cooked beans was on his & Mom's 65th wedding anniversary in 2004 for several people who were there to help celebrate. Our son, Scott, helped him & shared in this one last activity with his Grandpa.....5 weeks later, Dad passed away. While I consider this a very special painting, emotionally, it was very difficult to do.

So Scott....this one's for you....love, Mom

About Marsha Elliott

Marsha Elliott

I’ve enjoyed art in one form or another since I was old enough to pick up a crayon and scribble on a wall. As early as third grade, I began blending colors and using shade to create form. Balancing marriage, motherhood and a full time career, there was only time enough to dabble in the fine arts. My 43 years as a sign artist afforded me a daily outlet for creativity. Now that I’m retired, I want to direct my creativity towards watercolor. It’s been a real challenge for me to break away from the very technical art form of sign making but the fluidity of the watercolor medium is helping me to do that. My subject matter is varied and my work is a unique combination of realist, impressionist and postimpressionist styles and...
