Daffodils are a harbinger of Spring throughout the world, but this one was shot in Maryland. This part of the daffodil flower is called the corona, while the star-shaped part of the flower is the perianth. The corona may take on different shapes in the different varieties of daffodil. Sometimes it is disk-shaped, while it is more usually bell- or bowl-shaped. This shot focuses on the frilled edge of the corona in this variety.
