I found this 1963 Corvette at a local car show at a nearby winery a few years ago. Ledgewood Creek Winery puts on an annual car show and I decided I was going to shoot this show in black and white as it seemed fitting to shoot these old cars that way.
I have always been a big lover of the Chevrolet Corvette and the 1963 model was for it's time very revolutionary. The hide away headlights were introduced to the Corvette in 1963 and the body styling with the sloped hoodline and the sharp edges had not been seen on a production car like this ever.
Chevrolet also introduced an independant rear suspension for this car. This was the first time this had been used in a Chevrolet also.
The biggest design feature for the 1963 Corvette of course was the split rear window. Many thought the style was ugly and many custom shops had kits to take the split out of the window. GM changed the design for the following year. Now if you a have a split window you truly have rare automobile.
