Absolutely beautiful. Haven't chosen the perfect spot to display it yet, but it's a wonderful work of art I'm proud to display both for it's artistry and subject.

Bought for a fellow Navy veteran. He was beyond pleased, and so am I. Being able to choose such a unique mounting made the gift even "giftier" since it's so unique. Thanks - very pleased.

Sadly didn't turn out as nice as I had hoped. The picture is printed faintly and is hard to see well. Shipping and packaging was good.

Artist's Description

This bowl is taken from my grandmother's wooden bowl which was carved by my grandfather, Thorsten, in the traditional style for weddings. The interesting part is that he was a premier woodcarver and artist in both Sweden (recarving the Vasaordin in Stockholm and making many superb sculptures there and in the US) and then my father, Val (artist glass worker) says he also carved some "hammering" into the original, then I cast it first in bronze and then in glass, adding considerable ornamentation, which is perfect for the properties of glass, using my "trademark" "bird/corn/horn" motifs. Also of interest is that the carving on the interior bottom of the bowl was taken from some glass "carving" from their old clock face, so now the piece is back in glass. Fascinating, no?

Mansi discovered...
