Crow Butte, as seen from Crawford looking east. Crow Butte is a famous landmark to Native Americans, the Lakota (Sioux) and previously the Crows. The 1868 and 1875 Treaties between the U.S. Gov't and all Plains Indians were signed at the Council Tree a short distance from this butte. (the stand of cottonwood trees in the foreground are not the treaty tree.)
