Description
Cumbres & Toltec 488 Locomotive
On our three week travels through many beautiful parts of the U.S.A. we were fortunate to see this locomotive on its way to Chama, New Mexico station. They offer scenic rides which travel between Chama, New Mexico and Antonito, Colorado and reach a height of 10,015 feet. A ride I would love to do. I can only imagine how breathtaking the views must be.
The railroad was constructed in 1800 which ran from Denver through the Rocky Mountains to Silverton, Colorado and Santa Fe, New Mexico.
The railroadï¿¿s role came to an end in the 1890s due to the decline of silver mining.

Great capture of the C&T steam engine with those beautiful yellow aspens! We go to New Mexico most every summer and have done the train ride from Antonito to Chama. Your beautiful image brings back beautiful memories!
