Very expressive Portrait!!!!!!!!!! L/F

I love this painting and this tribute to your father. Means so much. v/f

I just love the image of you Daddy Sharon...he reminds me of my Daddy so much and I have been going back to this image wanting to write a comment and each time I was to tearful to do so...but today...on Fathers Day...I dedicate this poem to your Daddy and mine...and I am sure my Dad is with me still...even though not on this earth any more...but in my heart...with every beat of my heart... Lets treasure the special moments we have had with them...Happy Fathers Day..and this goes to all fathers on earth! Life Lessons You may have thought I didn't see, Or that I hadn't heard, Life lessons that you taught to me, But I got every word. Perhaps you thought I missed it all, And that we'd grow apart, But Dad, I picked up everything, It's written on my heart. Without you, Dad, I wouldn't be The (woman)(man) I am today; You built a strong foundation No one can take away. I've grown up with your values, And I'm very glad I did; So here's to you, dear father, From your forever grateful kid. By Joanna Fuchs

Sharon Burger replied:

Jolanta, thank you for the beautiful poem. I will retire this after today but nit before I copy your wonderful poetry. My father, though gone so much of the time with the navy, was a big influence on my life. I believe it was his example that helped me pick the right man to marry. Honest, faithful and loving even when he was firm. Thank you my friend.

Sharon,I am so happy you had a real daddy to no you were his. My dad left when I was 1 1/2 yrs.I had a step dad forever and still do but watching him go is sad. All is well though,I found him when I was 46 years old(Birth Father). I am Happy for all the good you had.Love you sweetie.! Hugs,Marsha f&v

Sharon Burger replied:

I really appreciate your words Marsha. I'm so glad you found your father.

Beautiful tribute, Sharon! v/f

Sharon Burger replied:

Thank you Roger, happy fathers day.

My Dad was 59 also, he died of lung cancer. He was so young, younger than I am now and I feel I have years left in me.

What a lovely tribute to your "Daddy" Sharon....I also lost my Daddy to cancer in 1980; he was only 59 and worked until he couldn't - about two weeks before he died....I have the most fond memories and can see his smile today and feel his love - this is an awesome painting! jd

a beautiful portrait of your father ..beautifully done

Sharon Burger replied:

Thank you Elaine, I didn't paint it but I love it anyway.

Thank you so much Anne,

Sharon, This is a marvelous painting and fine tribute to your honest and loving father. No matter how long ago it has been I know that you think of him every single day & still miss him very much. When we lose our parents, there is always that empty feeling in our hearts. I have lost both of my parents in 2003. They died within less that 3 months of each other ... This is a fine tribute to you dear father.

Sharon, with this wonderful portrait showed his tremendous honor. This is exciting!

Sharon Burger replied:

He was very honorable. He taught me honesty and integrity. I remember stopping while traveling, to refill our cooler with ice. The station was closed but the ice machine was unlocked. He took a bag of ice and put a dollar on top weighted down with a rock. The ice was only 25 cents, but he didn't have change. $1 was quite a lot back then when gas was 21 cents a gal...But what a wonderful lesson for us kids.

Great tribute, on fathers day,Sharon! It is very moving though. (V/f)

Sharon Burger replied:

Yeah, I cried as I posted it. He was my hero.

Sharon, Look at the big handsome smile! I can relate and this is so why your loving and caring! Such a great portrait Sharon.. a fav/.vote now I need some tissues

Sharon Burger replied:

Thanks Chrisann, I got his smile and his pre mature white hair. I don't believe he was much over 50 here and solid white.

Sharon,He is a Handsome man. My daddy was in the war in the Navy.Your dad got to go before He lost his dignity. That is so hard.Nursing homes etc. I love him sooo much. How old was he when he passed? God knows when each persons time is. Thanks for congrats, Hugs Marsha F&V

Sharon Burger replied:

He was 59 when he died, way too soon. thanks My friend. and double congrats on those sales.

Sharon. I envy people who had a good father mine was a successful builder who was the pillar of the community He was also was also an evil alcoholic who beat me from as far back as I can remember. He died just 57. I never give him the time of day, however, back to your piece It is lovely piece and a wonderful tribute to your Daddy. Family is everything. Love you my friend!

Sharon Burger replied:

He was a good father Andrew, I got my share of smacks, but I was a difficult child. headstrong... the Irish side I guess. I was lucky to grow up in a safe and loving home.

Rights Hollywood stars ------ Ante

Sharon Burger replied:

Your sweet Ante. Thank you.

Sharon, great piece!. My dad was a 30 year man too.I guess my mom was either different or a true navy wife. She knew dad made the most of his time home with us kids. He was on aircraft carriers. For us kids, we didn't ask him how he was and glad he was home (till later); it was usually what did ya bring us this time. I imagine your dad and my dad's credo was the least this is what my dad said Country, Navy, Home. I miss mine too.......For all those Dad's here or gone;Happy Father's Day.

Sharon Burger replied:

My Mom was a true navy wife and very proud of his service. It was his dying so soon after retirement that she never forgave him for. He was a chief engineman on submarines. In fact he served on the enfamous SS Drum. He spent a great deal of time at sea.Thank you dear heart and fellow navy brat.

Blessings to your family and to you all. Sometimes tears come from a sense of recognition that we're all in the same boat of humanity, sometimes on rough seas.

Sharon Burger replied:

Thank you so much for your kind thoughts lenore. We all suffer some loss or another, none of us walk alone ..

Beautifully written Sharon. I feel your pain, your pride, and your love. Thank you for sharing.

Sharon Burger replied:

Thank you Gwyn, for giving such honor to a stranger.

You brought a tear to my eye, Sharon, as I, too, must have a Father's Day without my Dad here. It hits home. Military families pay a huge price for our liberty, don't they, no matter what era they live in. Your tribute to him is a wonderful one. V/F

Sharon Burger replied:

Posting this was more painful than I thought possible after so many years. Ed served too and I am so greatful he came home to us.

wow, stunning painting Sharon, you've captured him exceptionally brilliant and I am sure you have happy memories of him that you spent together:)

Sharon Burger replied:

It's actually a photo on canvas. I'd love to paint him so beautifully.

Wonderful tribute Sharon.

Sharon Burger replied:

Thank you so much Alga

Sharon a very emotional heartfelt tribute. God bless him and you my friend. A fine work. v/f

Sharon Burger replied:

Thank you Bob, the tears have been flowing since I posted this, it has been 32 years. some memories never die. .

I ordered the larger size not this one. I double checked the order and discovered on payment that it was a lower price than expected. I wanted the largest one.

I wanted a serene, colorful picture to hang in a bathroom I was remodeling. This is the perfect picture because I have had and loved dogs all my life. I'm very happy with my choice and love seeing it every time I enter the room.

Beautiful illustration of Layne Staley. Once again, Mr. Shifflett does not disappoint. Have received a great deal of positive feedback from the band as well as hundreds of fans after seeing this illustration, as it captures Layne so beautifully. Thank you Mr. Shifflett! Please note, my photo does not do the illustration justice. Because it is mounted behind glass, to reduce glare I had to take the photo in low light.

Artist's Description

The man I called Daddy, I lost him to lung cancer in 1980. I hardly knew him. He was a navy man all his life and so often gone that when he was home I was in awe of this man who was my father. He traveled the world and gave his life to the military, and his family paid the price. He died about 10 years after he retired from the navy and my mother never forgave him for the times we all missed together. She is with him now .. He was the most honorable man I've ever known. Happy fathers day Daddy.... I miss you.
