It was a gift for a friend who has worked on these rigs. It’s now in his own company facility. He loves it.
As the title indicates this is a tractor which belonged to my Dad in it's and his younger days but is now a possession of one of my brothers of which I have four. It has remained an abandoned fixture for over 10 years on the property where I spent my childhood in New Scotland, New York.

As a young girl Barbara would visit a secluded site in the woods neighboring her upstate New York home to observe and sketch birds in their natural habitat. She attended the State University of New York at New Paltz and the University of New York at Albany. At New Paltz, Barbara studied under George Wexler and Sheldon Schoenberg whom she credits with teaching her the fundamentals of drawing (Prof Schoenberg told his students if they couldn’t learn to “see” they would never be artists.) Brings back the memories of my grandparents' farm and the rusted equipment to be found here and there dotting the many acres. There weren't many, and they became a sort of visual focal point, as by the time i came along the farm was only farmed by neighbors a year here and a year there. But boy, did I ever have fun climbing over those things!!! It's a wonder I didn't get a rusty scratch and wind up in the hospital!!! But there is such beauty in the clear field, with a wonderful old piece of equipment just seemingly waiting to be used again. Your painting is magnificent, Barbara. The tracings of the shadows of the tree, the subtle, subtle mixture of blues and purples in the snow and sky ... and oh those wonderful golden browns.
