This is one of two paintings I've done of the Greek myth of Danae and Zeus. Here is when Zeus arrived to seduce Danae as a shower of gold. He had a habit of showing up in various form for this very purpose. Many artists from Rembrandt to Klimt and more have used this myth to depict a woman's pleasure. The model for this one had a series of photos taken of her with the vines draped over her. I worked from a combination of those photos. I liked the idea of having the coloring of the vines go from a deep red to the gold from the myth.
