Hello Debra and Dave! What a beautiful image--f/v. I just joined your Barns Big and Small Group and want to thank you for sponsoring it. I am fascinated by barns and remember when we had a small farm in Minnesota. What a great experience for "city kids" to experience life on a farm, go to the one room country schoolhouse, visit farms and neighbors, and getting snowed in. Big thrills included going "up in the haymow," watching the renters fill the silo, and seeing neighbors milk their cows. I don't yet have any farm or barn pictures but wanted to join the group, just so I could "visit" some beautiful farms. Best regards, Kirsten

Love it, great buy and top quality. Very happy!

I am familiar with this talented artist, Lenore Senior, and appreciate her work. The towels were much better quality than I expected. So soft and such a beautiful replication of Lenore's artwork. They look great with the wall art I already have in place. I appreciate all the different product forms that FineArtAmerica offers. I have ordered Lenore's work on greeting cards, too, and they were beautiful and of a very good quality. Thank you!

Artist's Description

Captured at dawn, this is the Shields family dairy farm in western North Carolina, part of the Cherokee National Forest. The farm is over 100 years old, built by the Shields who migrated from Ireland and helped to build Cades Cove in Townsend Tennessee before they moved to North Carolina and established the dairy, just eight miles from the border of Tennessee... Dairy farming has been part of agriculture for thousands of years. Historically it has been one part of small, diverse farms. In the last century or so larger farms doing only dairy production have emerged. Large scale dairy farming is only viable where either a large amount of milk is required for production of more durable dairy products such as cheese, butter, etc. or there is a substantial market of people with cash to buy milk, but no cows of their own. Centralized dairy farming as we understand it primarily developed around villages and cities, where residents were unable to have cows of their own due to a lack of grazin...
