Daylilies in the Rain by Regina Geoghan. An image of two bright orange and yellow daylilies during a light shower with deep shadows in the background and raindrops on the petals. Daylilies are not true lilies but get their name because of their resemblance to the lily flower. They are commonly seen and thought to be native flowers but are native to Asia and cultivated and brought to the U.S. Here they are used in gardens but also grow wild along the edges of woodlands and in fields. Named Hemerocallis fulva, the common names are daylily, orange daylily, tiger lily, tawny daylily, fulvous daylily, roadside daylily and ditch daylily.
