My husband and I had a lovely trip to Paris and southern France last July. While on a bus trip we were able to take a photo of this cafe that we share a name with. Our photo was a little blurry and not good for enlargement. Your wonderful photo now hangs in our own kitchen as a nice reminder of that trip. It is beautiful and of very good quality. We love it. Artist's Description
I composed this tribute to "Dea Los Muertos", (Day of the Dead) from photographs I took of sculptures I was commissioned to do for a gallery in New Mexico a few years ago. My "Dead Aunts" may have been the most fun project I have ever undertaken. I made about 30 of them. They all went to their final reward in private collections. I wished I had saved one. Maybe I will make more some day.
About Cecily Mitchell
I was born into a family of artists. My father was an animator. He worked on Snow White and Bambi, WAY before I was born. I began my own artistic journey when I was two; I drew a "portrait" of my father. It was a full figure that included a body, to which the arms and legs were attached. Apparently, this was a first for a child my age, as children that young who draw people will draw limbs protruding from a head. They don't, normally draw a body. My drawing was taken to a meeting of child psychologists who proclaimed me to have " extraordinary abilities of observation". All I know is, I have been obsessed with all things art ever since.
