This tree was part of a circular drive through Craters of the Moon NP in Idaho. I forget it's age now, but it had been there for an awful long time. It simply seemed so odd to find this tree among all those rocks and volcanic leftovers since it is a site of acres and acres of volcanic waste. I did go back there a few years later and couldn't find that tree, I went back again and still had no luck, so my guess is that the tree finally gave up the ghost. This is another capture from ye olde film days using a normal lens with a No.12 yellow filter attached along with a polarizer.
Life began for me in Jersey City, NJ in a somewhat non-descript manner, the son of a truck driver. While in the 'growing up' stage of my life I always had an interest in things visual. Somewhere around 1970 I got hold of a camera and was quite awestruck with wonder by what it could do. (There was more fascination there for me than simply a 'snapshot'). The intriguing patterns of light and shadow as well as form and texture absolutely fascinated me. From that point on the camera became my principle means of expression via the impact of its' visual presentation. My areas of interest traverse such diverse subject matter as the natural environment, aviation ( in the form of the pioneers), the nude, animals, nautical images, botanicals,...
