Thanks, Ernestine! I am so glad you noticed this!

Somehow "scratchy" hatching and texture ends up being graceful and flowing . . . Especially love how the pale ethereal peach of the ballerina's figure and gown are the only warm tones in the whole image against the cool grays of the world or stage . . . breathing a sense of life and flesh into her even as she seems to be dissolving into ink and smoke and the life of the dance . .. amazing

Marina Likholat replied:

Thank you Sandy for the lovely compliment! You are completely right, I tried to use the contrast between warm and cold colors, because black and white palette seemed too boring for this theme:)

Just saw your new work "Debut" I thought I was most drawn the melting-ly gorgeous use of color in your works of art - as well as the types of textural elements and seemingly effortless composition - but this is a departure - still in your signature style, but a departure and it's own sort of brilliant .. . .as opposed to the more modern digital effects some of the drawing effects it reminds me of some of my favorite illustrations from the 70s . . .exceptional!!!

Love this!! :^D---jrr
