Delilah's name would not exist in Biblical writings had it not been for her wicked betrayal of Samson. While her name may embody the essence of a shy coquette, her true nature and actions were filled with greed and evil. Despite being a judge over his people for over 20 years, Samson repeatedly had a problem with choosing a woman based on his eyes and emotions rather than the values taught by his parents. Samson's first wife, of whom his parents greatly disapproved, betrayed his trust and their bond of fidelity. His time with a harlot had the same result. And then he saw Delilah. Once again his lust reigned, and she repeatedly betrayed him in efforts to receive payments of silver from his enemies. As we all know, it did not end well.
