on the dairy farm,
thick fog enveloping the valley
on this western
North Carolina farmland...
The barns are painted red
with red metal roofs,
100 years old
and still in operation.
The cows stand in the pasture,
waiting for feed.
The big oak tree
on the hillside above
watches over the farm
in the middle of autumn.
The mists of the morning
weigh heavy
as the dew glistens
on the grass and trees.
The Appalachian mountains
are full of wonderful barns
and small farms and this one
has been family-owned
for a full century.
